دأب ملوك مصر القديمة علي الانتساب لرمزي مملكتي الشمال والجنوب "به"، "نخن" وأرواحهما مما يشير الي تمسكهم بمبدأ وحدة المملكة المصرية القديمة بشطريها، وأيضا لما كان لكلا من "به"، "نخن" دور هام فيما قبل الأسرات فيما يختص بالطقوس والعقائد المصرية القديمة، وخاصة في الميلاد المقدس للملوك ومراسيم تتويجهم، وكذلك دورهم الهام في معاونة الملوك في عملية الصعود الي السماء، لذا سعي ملوك مصر منذ فجر تاريخهم الي إظهار ارتباطهم بهاتين المدينتين وبآلهتها، في محاولة لكي يضمنوا لأنفسهم الخلافة الشرعية للأسلاف الذي حكموا المملكة المصرية القديمة فيما قبل الوحدة
