المستخلص
تتناول هذه الدراسة عناصر الخبّاطومḫabbātum ، التي تعد إحدى المجموعات التي انتشرت في منطقة بلاد النهرين خلال العصر البابلي القديم (2003-1595 قبل الميلاد). وترجع أهمية تلک الدراسة إلى أن عناصر الخبّاطوم لم تنل الاهتمام الکافي من الباحثين المُهتمين بتلک العناصر التي تعمل خارج الأطُر القانونية داخل المُجتمعات المُنظمة التي انتشرت في بلاد النهرين خلال العصور القديمة، لا سيما خلال العصر البابلي القديم حوالي (2003- 1595 قبل الميلاد). ومن الاهداف الرئيسة لهذه الدراسة هو إلقاء الضوء على طبيعة دور وتطور هذه العناصر، وتحليل أسباب التحولات الکبيرة لدورهم داخل المُجتمع في المناطق التي ظهروا فيها خلال العصر البابلي القديم، لا سيما أنه قد اختلف طبيعة النظرة إلى دور الخبّاطوم المُجتمعي في نصوص خلال العصر البابلي القديم من وصفهم باعتبارهم لصوص وقطاع طرق ثم وصفوا بأنهم جنود مرتزقة ثم تحولوا إلى الاشتراک في الجيش البابلي کفرق نظامية داخل الجيش. ويُحاول البحث الإجابة عن الأسباب الکامنة التي أدت إلى هذه التحولات من عناصر خارجة عن القانون إلى عناصر تعمل لصالح السُلطة الرسمية. TheḪabbātum in the Old Babylonian Period Abstract: The present study deals with the elements of the Ḫabbātum, one of the groups that spread across Mesopotamia during the Old Babylonian Period (2003–1595 B.C.). The significance of this study reflects the fact that Ḫabbātum has received little attention from scholars who have been interested in elements that function outside of organised society’s legal structures, such as other elements that have spread in Mesopotamia. Moreover, the present study aims to shed light on the existence of these elements and to investigate the reasons for the major changes in their function within the community in the regions that have appeared during the Old Babylonian Period. In the early texts of the Old Babylonian Period, the nature of the interpretation of ḫabbātum’s function differed from the late Babylonian texts; thus, their social function is discussed. The article tries to examine the reasons for these shifts from outlaw elements to working for the official authority.
