Abstract

Oualata city is located at the bottom of southern cliff of Mauritania, at the most southeast, about 1,300 kilometers from the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott.  Stories differed on the history of Oualata establishment, which was attributed to 625 A.H 1224A.D.
Traditional houses in that location have traditional desert impressions, established using stones and clay in their construction to agree with the high temperatures in the area.
Houses in Oualata mainly consist of 2 floors with different decorations and unique heritage because the inhabitancies preserved such models of traditional houses.
The houses have an internal courtyard leading  to the reception, including some animals.
