Abstract

: The present study investigated the causes and impacts of diseases afflicting some of the Hittite kings, such as; King Šuppiluliuma I, king Arnuwanda II, King Muršili II and finally King Ḫattušili III. These diseases had been described in royal archives of a dynasty of Hittite kings. These diseases had remarkable impacts on their royal life, decisions, directions and Hittite religion policy. The historical background is an essential part of this study to clarify various aspects of diseases affecting Hittite kings only and to investigate their relationship to the recital idolatry and their description in the archaeological writings and the means used by the kings for recovery. Because each disease has a property of its circumstances, the elements of research may differ from one property to another
