Abstract

This research aims to study and publish some pottery sherds preserved in the Educational Museum of Antiquities at Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, on which various scenes were depicted, which the researcher will try to describe, explain and date. The research deals with the reasons that the Byzantine artists depicted mythological scenes on their pottery. Moreover, did some of them have symbolism for Christianity, or were they just an ancient legacy? The study began with an introduction, technique, decorations and analytics for the depicted scenes.
