The architecture of the Grand Mosque in the era of King Abdul Aziz Al Saud

Abstract

King Abdul Aziz - may God have mercy on him - was interested in the architecture of the Two Holy Mosques and the holy places, and he gave them all his care and care. Among the works that took place in the Grand Mosque, we mention the following: First: In the year 1344 AH, King Abdul Aziz issued his order to build the Grand Mosque and the following works were completed: Marginalizing the whole of the Grand Mosque, repairing wall cracks, repairing the place of the prayer hall, repairing the walkways and the path of the courtyard, and all the doors, and painting the shrine of Ibrahim with green paint, as well as the copper slabs located around the road. Restoration of the furnishings of the corridors of the Grand Mosque from its four sides, as well as the tiles of the doors, and the stone brushes on which the four shrines are held, as well as the marble walls of the mosque inside and outside, as well as cleaning the domes inside and out, as well as repairing the shag of wooden doors, and painting contracts, columns and the wall of the mosque in the upper floor , according to its original color (black, yellow-orange, burgundy red, and gray). As well as cleaning the marble cylinders of dust, until they returned to their bright white color.
