Abstract

Islamic civilization has become a center of cultural activity in all its aspects. It has been linked to an active network of roads and routes, which grew on its outskirts and extensions, towns and stations, to provide various services that carry pilgrims and visitors, and convoys of commerce and others.
This research aims to study one of the important stations on the main road connecting the cities of Mecca and Jeddah, whose existence was associated with the history of housing in the Wadi Mur (Mur valley), since pre- Islam era, and shows that this settlement was for the purpose of agriculture and grazing, in the region in general; without any urban activity. Because the historical sources that speak of the severity of the fact that it is an urban site, and in the Ottoman era became known as a town, witnessed sharp urban development in the modern era of Saudi Arabia.
The availability of water resources has made it difficult to stop the convoys passing through it for watering, and the importance of it has become a political and military conflict between Mecca's supervisors and their opponents from the surrounding tribes and near Mecca.
The study deals with the characterization and location of the site, the history of its significance and importance, and the most important manifestations of urbanization.
