Abstract

Abstract:
This research deals with studying and publishing the irregularly shaped funerary stela (Shemai) No. GEM 3594 at the Grand Egyptian Museum. It also presents the meanings of names and titles, copies and translations of texts, and comments on the signs and artistic characteristics of the stela, which are distributed in three registers, in addition to the offerings depicted on it.  The first register is the main text at the top of the stela, the second is the text at the bottom of the stela, and the third is the text at the base. The stela is for an employee called "Shemai", who was a contemporary of the rule of King " Neferkauhor" from the Eighth Dynasty, and it has not been studied or published before. It represents a funerary stela made of colored limestone, which is placed inside the tomb to immortalize the memory of its owner, as it provides him with offerings in his afterlife. It is the primary means of immortalizing the memory of the deceased, and it is the most widespread among individuals in ancient Egypt.
