Abstract

The common people played an important role in the faith in ancient Egypt, in particular through what was known as "popular worship" and "personal piety", which spread greatly from the era of the New Kingdom onwards.
One of the most important places where the common people practiced their worship is a group of chapels known in the ancient Egyptian language as the "xnw", which is believed to have appeared since the era of the New Kingdom. They are small chapels that were erected in the streets, in villages and cities, and were used by the common people in their worship. The Khno had a very simple plan, and a small statue or a painting of the deity was placed inside it, to which the public turned to worship and offer sacrifices. Among the examples of the Khno that we knew through texts or excavations
