Abstract

Olive has a great importance in ancient civilizations, it has been necessary for human since prehistory. It was used for eating, treatment, lighting...etc. Scientists have differed in determining the original land of olive, some of whom suggested Palestine and Levant, others suggested Greece and some stated from Cyprus and the Aegean region. Olives in ancient Egypt have not been monitored by a specialized study, so this research will be based on four interlocutors, the first one: the original home of the olive tree, and if we assume that it was planted in ancient Egypt, then, when and where? The second: the names of olive oil in ancient Egyptian language and explanations of several names. May be intended olive oil, sesame oil or Moringa at other times. The third: is the archaeological evidence that confirms the existence olives and oil in Egypt since the new kingdom at least like olive stones and leaves. The fourth: the artistic depiction of olives in ancient Egypt.
