The Stela of pA-Srj-n-@apyat Arab El-Hesn magazine at El- Matariya

Abstract

This research presents the publication of a stela for the first time, which was discovered in Heliopolis. It belongs to a man called pA-Sri-n-@apy. It is carved from limestone in a bad state of preservation and currently preserved in the antiquities’ magazine of Arab El-Hisn at El-Matariya under registration No. 2338.The stela contains the lunette and two registers. The lunette includes the winged sun disk with its religious symbols, while the first register has a representation of the stela’s  owner pA-Sri-n-@apy and his mother di.s-nbwt adoring Wsir and Ra -@r- Axty in a double scene. The second register is occupied by the main text. The research deals with the stela through several essential elements like: the description of the scenes depicted on it, the translation of the hieroglyphic texts, artistic and linguistic remarks, besides the religious aspects of the symbols presented on the round-topped upper part. By the analyzing of the hieroglyphic texts it was obviously that the stela talks about the genealogy of pA-Sri-n-@apy. The research proves also that the stela dates back to the late period and accurately, the 26th dynasty.
