Rock Arts: A True Reflection of Past Nations

Author

Assistant Professor At Princess NouraBint Abdulrahman (EGYPT)

Abstract

This research aims to study the rock arts which are considered to be among the most important and authentic sources of study, and contribute widely for studying , tracing the lives of societies and nations and their ancient national identity. The research also tackles to what extent they have influenced and were influenced by those around them, what common features they shared, and how effectively rock art symbols conveyed and documented the prehistoric events they were engraved for. This will be done through tracing back their historical epochs in the near Middle East and Arabia.
This research mainly tackles the symbolism of the Lion, especially extinct Atlas or Nubian lion engraving representations in the prehistory civilizations of North Arabia, North Africa and Egypt.
